This article will serve as a complete guide on HP UFT Certification (formerly QTP Certification) for 12.x version which is slated to release on Aug 1st, 2016.
We will talk about changes in the upcoming certification exam, syllabus of UFT Certification, sample questions and answers for UFT Certification.
As some of you may be aware, on Nov 1, 2015 HP got split into two companies – HP Inc and HP Enterprise (HPE). While HP Inc will focus in printers and PCs business, HPE will deal in software, networking, storage part of the business. For us, it means that various automated testing tools including LoadRunner, ALM and UFT would now be under HPE.
With this move, a big change is going to happen for UFT Certification as well. HP released UFT 12 Certification in March 2015 with exam code HP0-M102. Starting from Aug 1, 2016, this older certification HP0-M102 would no longer be active and it will be replaced by HPE ATP – Unified Functional Testing v12 with exam code HPE0-M105. If you are already preparing for HP0-M102 exam, I would strongly suggest you to switch to HPE0-M105 exam and achieve the latest certification.
In my experience of 10+ years working with QTP (now UFT), this is the fastest replacement I have seen in QTP Certification/UFT Certification. Earlier cycles used to vary between 2-3 years.
In exam code HP0-M102 UFT certification, questions were specific to GUI and API functionality. In exam code HPE0-M105 other than GUI and API, a small part of syllabus is also dedicated to LeanFT (Check –What is LeanFT?) and UFT Mobile. Advanced scripting skills are being given more weightage in the latest certification exam.
Does that mean HP0-M102 Certification exam is no longer valid?
Certifications by HPE can be categorized under two heads; Inactive Certifications and Expired Certifications.
- Inactive Certification: These certification exams are valid but are no longer available and cannot be achieved after the inactive date. If your exam is going to be inactive in a future date it is mandatory to meet all requirements for that exam before that date to get all benefits. Beginning Aug 1st, 2016 HP0-M102 will become an Inactive certification.
- Expired Certification: These certification exams are not valid and no longer available. Certification exams by HP get expired when the technology behind the product changes significantly. HP0-M16 (QTP 10) is an example of expired certification.
What to expect in HPE0-M105: HPE Unified Functional Testing v12 exam?

- Item types: multiple choice (single response), multiple choice (multiple responses), and matching
- Exam time: 1 hour 30 minutes
- Passing score: 73%
- Exam Type: It’s a proctored exam taken at a dedicated testing center
