Data analytics company Palantir is acquiring the data visualization startup Silk, the Dutch firm announced Wednesday.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Silk's product will be phased out: Silk.co as a platform will continue to operate, but Silk users will no longer get technical or customer support. The Silk team will not conduct any further development work or add any new features.

"When we met the Palantir team, we realized that we could work on even bigger and more important data problems with an incredibly talented team -- even if it meant no longer working on the Silk product," the company said.

Silk was founded in 2010, and its investors included New Enterprise Associates -- which also invested inTableau, a data visualization firm that's secured several major enterprise customers.
